You’re looking at one of the coolest chronographs of the 21st century thus far. There — we said it! 

Made in collaboration with HODINKEE, the Skipper is a unique, modern take on two vintage Heuer references from the 1960s: the 7754 ‘Skipperera,’ and the Carrera ‘Dato 45.’ The former, which was produced in 1967 in commemoration of Eil Mosbacger’s America’s Cup victory in the yacht Intrepid, was a unique yachting version of the famed Carrera chronograph. The Dato 45, also a chronograph in the Carrera lineup, included a date window balanced with a single, 45-minute totalizer.

In combining these two special timepieces, TAG Heuer and HODINKEE created a modern masterpiece that rapidly sold out of its initial run of 125 pieces.

It features a 39mm stainless steel case with a ‘boxed’ sapphire crystal, a 'Heuer' signed crown, dual barrel pushers, a smooth bezel, and a knockout, luminous sunburst blue dial with applied indices, a tri-color 30-minute register at 9:00, a date window at 3:00, with a matching handset. Furthermore, the dial is signed with a vintage-style ‘Heuer’ logo, rather than the ‘TAG Heuer’ logo. In fact, it could easily be mistaken for a vintage watch.

Powered by the TAG Heuer's Caliber 18 automatic winding movement beating at 4 Hz with a power reserve of 40 hours, this Skipper comes paired to a navy blue ‘rallye’-style leather strap with a ‘Heuer’-signed, stainless steel push-button deployant clasp.

This particular example is accompanied by its factory goodies, it also includes an orange and grey nylon NATO-style strap.

If you can find a cooler, better looking, better wearing chronograph from the past 10 years, we’re more than ready to hear about it.
